A plumber has come to the rescue of a sulking moggie who trapped himself under his human’s bathtub.

Bob Ross, who advertises his services with a 24-hour, seven-day emergency callout promise on line, was called in by Quan Du, a Dundee University finance student, after her cat Eros took refuge under the floor beneath the bath. No amount of coaxing was able to lure out Eros, who appeared to be aggrieved by Quan and her boyfriend’s packing their stuff in preparation to move house.

“My boyfriend and I were packing up to move out, and Eros sneaked into the bathroom and got under the bath. He just disappeared. We tried for two days to catch him but he is so clever.”

Bob, who lays claim to four decades in the trade, was at first sceptical of the call, thinking it may be a prank. He said:

“I got a text at 6am on Wednesday from a lady wanting me to take her bath out because there was a cat stuck under the bathroom floor. When you get a text message like that through at 6am, you think someone is having you on. But sure enough the cat had been under there for three days – and they were moving out, so they needed to get him out.”

After creating a hole in the floor and removing some floorboards, Bob was able to extricate Eros without having to take out the bath.

“At first I didn’t even think the cat was in there but we soon caught sight of him. It took about three hours but we got him out eventually – he is a bonnie wee cat. I’ve been in the trade for more than 40 years and this was a first for me.”

Liberated from his former hiding place, Eros posed for a picture with Bob before being popped into his travel box, looking none too pleased.

Quan added: “I think he is angry about moving home – but he is OK. He is drinking water but he initially didn’t want to eat, although he is eating his food now.”
