Kicking off the new year, the Association of Plumbing & Heating Contractors (APHC) will be giving away 100 training rewards worth £150 each to plumbing and heating companies throughout 2023.

Firms can claim the reward to use towards the cost of a certificated course with a recognised training provider such as APHC, BPEC, City & Guilds and all UKAS-approved ACS providers.

The training reward scheme is operated each year by APHC (Training) Ltd as an incentive to safeguard the long-term professional development of the industry and ensure training is undertaken. The £150 training reward is available to all plumbing and heating companies in England and Wales regardless of whether they are members of APHC.

APHC has also published its 2023 programme of online courses which include: Legionella Cold Water Risk Assessment & Disinfection, Domestic Hot Water Storage Systems (Unvented) and Sanitary & Above Ground Drainage.

The 2023 programme of courses are delivered using Microsoft Teams so delegates can use a PC or laptop device to log on and complete their training over tw0 hours per day for up to four days. Once the initial training course is complete, delegates will then take an online assessment to obtain a course completion certificate.

The courses are for experienced plumbers who ideally hold a relevant NVQ Level 2 or have equivalent practical experience of plumbing and the water industry.

Graeme Dryden, Deputy CEO & technical services manager at the Association of Plumbing & Heating Contractors (APHC), comments: “Keeping up-to-date and developing existing skills is important to help ensure you are working compliantly and safely. Our courses can not only help with this, but also help plumbers gain skills to access new markets such as legionella risk assessing.”
