Marking a major milestone, Screwfix has opened its 500th UK store in Enfield, north London. Since opening its first store in Yeovil in 2005, the outlet has rapidly expanded its network of branches and has opened one store per week for the past six years. With a focus on convenient customer service, it is estimated that 90% of the UK population is now within a 20 minute drive time of a Screwfix store.
Andrew Livingston, CEO of Screwfix, comments: “We’re immensely proud to be opening our 500th store. This is a significant moment for our business and demonstrates our focus on continued growth to meet the needs of our busy customers. As we reach this milestone, I want to thank our staff and, of course our customers. Our success relies on their success, so we remain as committed as ever to making things easier for them.”
Since starting life as the Woodscrew Supply Company in 1979, Screwfix has offered a growing range of products to both trade customers and serious DIYers. Its store network is visited by 2.9m customers a year and Screwfix.com by 2.5 million unique visitors each week. The company says that its Click & Collect service, which enables customers to pick-up their goods in as little as one minute after ordering online or over the phone, has proved particularly popular with customers.
More store openings are in the pipeline, as Screwfix plans to have a network of around 600 stores in the next couple of years. For more information visit www.screwfix.com
