Hoydens is the name of a new workwear range designed specifically for women. Created by Annie Bowman, a painter and decorator who was fed up with working in ill-fitting, impractical and unflattering trousers, the Hoydens trousers are designed to help women feel comfort-able all day while looking professional and smart.
While workwear for men has vastly improved over the last few years, and although there are alternatives for women, there can be issues such as not quite enough room in the hips and thighs, leading to tight, uncomfortable work and ripping at the seams. Hoydens come in women’s sizes 8-18 and three leg lengths to make it easier to order the right size.
The work trousers are currently being trialled by tradeswomen in Sheffield and will be available via www.hoydens.co.uk towards the end of the year. Annie is launching a Kickstarter campaign in October/November to help fund the first production run, which will offer discounts for early subscribers.
Hoydens will be asking everyone who buys the trousers for their feedback, as they want to make sure as many women as possible have a fit that is right for them. Future designs will include different fits of trousers and more features. Work tops and jackets to accommodate the bigger bust, and work shoes and boots for women’s feet, are planned too.
“I’m hoping that Hoydens will really help women feel so comfy that they can just get up, get dressed and get on with their work,” says Annie.
