The winner of the UK’s Heating Installer Awards 2017 was revealed at the recent Installer trade show at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry. Peter Booth of G V Booth Plumbing & Heating, Loughborough, represented the East Midlands and was announced the country’s winner. A founding member of the Gas Safe Superheroes campaign, Peter is passionate about the industry and wants to encourage future generations to pursue a career in plumbing.

Speaking of his new title as the UK’s Best Heating Installer 2017, Peter said: “The best thing about this whole process has been all of the people I’ve met on social media who have voted and believed in me. I really didn’t expect to win, although everyone else had confidence in me. I’ve really enjoyed raising awareness of what installers do across the country and I’d encourage anyone who’s interested to enter next year.”

Dean Foster, of Dean Foster Plumbing and Heating, County Durham, came runner-up in the awards. He says: “It feels nice to be recognised for my hard work, and it was such a surprise! It won’t change me as a person, but it will help me to get recognised for my achievements and I’m sure it will improve my business prospects. I could only make a flying visit to the awards ceremony as I had promised one of my elderly customers that her install would be complete by the end of the day – there’s no time to let the customer service drop despite the excitement of the competition.”

Nominations for the Heating Installer Awards 2017 opened in November 2016, asking installers, homeowners and customers to submit exemplary examples of work over the past 12 months.

A panel of experts then met to shortlist 10 regional winners, with the shortlist going to a public vote. Thousands of votes were cast, with Peter crowned winner of the Heating Installer Awards 2017.

The 2018 competition will open later this year.
