Ariston has added the Nuos Plus heat pump water heater to its product portfolio. The Nuos range combines a floor standing unvented cylinder with an air source heat pump water heater. The new range offers high levels of energy efficiency, reliability and control, while boasting a CoP of 3.14. Units are also quiet running, producing only 50dB of noise, which is the same as an average refrigerator.
Nuos Plus uses a thermodynamic cycle to heat domestic hot water efficiently, alongside an intelligent control system which allows users to program two separate times for hot water to be available. The range consists of two models: the 200-litre FS200 and the 250-litre FS250i, the latter of which is indirect. Both units are suitable for off-gas properties or as replacements for existing, electric-only cylinders.
The heat pump water heaters benefit from three modes: ‘Green’ mode is the most efficient option, ensuring only the heat pump operates, to keep the water temperature at 55°C. ‘Boost’ mode can be activated to switch on the heat pump and heating element at the same time, boosting the water temperature to 65°C. This mode needs to be manually selected by an end user when hot water is required quickly. ‘Auto’ mode allows the heat pump to operate on its own – but, if set higher than 55°C, the heating element is activated automatically until the desired water temperature is reached (up to 65°C).
All Nuos Plus products have an anti-legionella function. There is also an anti-freeze feature, which keeps the stored water at a minimum temperature, even when the unit is turned off.
Product ManagerAntonio Piana comments: “The Nuos Plus builds upon the benefits and reputation of our previous heat pump water heaters. We have improved the energy efficiency capabilities significantly, with a re-engineered heat pump and thermal insulation; this has resulted in an increased COP of 3.14 – so, in other words, units now require only a third of the electrical energy used by more traditional water heaters. This means end users can benefit from even lower energy bills, alongside plentiful amounts of domestic hot water.
“Installation is also straightforward with a ‘plug and play’ design so it can be fitted quickly, without the need for F-Gas qualifications. There are also optional air deflector grilles, which can be fitted when exhaust ducting isn’t required, offering added flexibility.”
The Nuos Plus range is KIWA approved and has an ErP rating of A+. Units are also supplied with a five-year manufacturer’s guarantee as standard.
