Founder of Pimlico Plumbers Charlie Mullins has announced plans to launch a new plumbing company called The We Fix Team, debuting in September 2024. Mullins revealed his plans during a recent episode of The Starting Line podcast hosted by Rich Leigh.
The new venture comes after the sale of Pimlico Plumbers two years ago, where Mullins founded and led the company for over 40 years before selling it for £147 million to Neighbourly, an American owned business. The launch of The We Fix Team will coincide with the end of a 3-year non-compete clause tied to the Pimlico sale.
On the podcast, Mullins expressed his motivation to prove he can build a successful plumbing business again, while bringing more premium offerings, competition and customer service to the market.
Mullins said he plans to invest around £1 million in The We Fix Team and explained how he would differentiate it from Pimlico: “It’s going to be more advanced and it’s going to have even better quality people, but less people. So it’s going to be a very much a premier service that people will pay a decent price for.”
He acknowledged the new venture may “upset” Pimlico but emphasised wanting to re-enter the industry on his own terms.
More details are expected on The We Fix Team as its start date approaches in September 2024 after the non-compete clause expires.
