Entries are now open for the annual Screwfix Top Tradesperson competition, with the top prize being a trade bundle worth £20,000.

The competition celebrates the outstanding work and professionalism of all tradespeople, resulting in one exceptional individual winning the title and the ultimate trade bundle worth £20,000, comprising tech, tools, and training.

Online entries are now open, and all tradespeople need to do to enter is fill out a simple form, sharing why they should be crowned this year’s Top Tradesperson. A selection of entrants will then be shortlisted to take part in a semi-final interview in September. The top 10 go through to a virtual final, hosted by industry experts, with the winner being announced during the retailer’s highly anticipated yearly event, Screwfix LIVE, on Friday 1st October.

Last year’s winner, Sean Matthews (pictured), a carpenter and joiner from Caerphilly, was awarded the title. Commenting on his experience, Sean says: “Being crowned Screwfix Top Tradesperson has changed mine and my family’s life forever. The phone has not stopped ringing, I have attracted more high-end clients and have been booked for new and exciting projects.

“Since winning, I have driven my business forward – I’ve been so busy and have even managed to support other tradespeople I know by handing work to them too. I am also looking to take on a full-time apprentice and share the skills I have learnt over the many years.

“My ambition now is to go into schools and colleges to talk about the advantages of a career in the trade and inspire the next generation of skilled tradespeople. I would definitely encourage others to enter this life-changing competition, you never know where it will take you!”
