The new aroTHERM hybrid system from Vaillant is said to combine the reassurance of a traditional boiler system with the cost saving credentials of an air-to-water heat pump.

The hybrid system features a controller which adjusts to the homeowner’s individual energy tariff. It monitors, calculates and then automatically selects the most cost-effective and efficient method of heating for the home – whether that’s through the boiler or renewable system –  on a day-to-day basis, delivering savings as well as protecting customers from any sudden rise in fuel costs.

“Hybrid installations can be specified to provide optimum efficiency and customer reassurance,” says John Bailey, Commercial & Renewables Systems Director. “While the vision of having multiple technologies pumping energy into the house may be off-putting for some customers, homeowners can now rest assured that today’s hybrid installations are as simple as they are effective.

“While renewables can deliver cost and energy efficient heating for many properties, sometimes a single technology isn’t enough to deliver the high level of efficiency expected, particularly in older or poorly insulated builds.”
