A new hydrogen production plant and technology demonstration site has been opened by Kiwa in Cheltenham. The site is linked to the company’s test labs by the UK’s first hydrogen distribution pipeline and will be made available to manufacturers seeking to understand the performance and longevity of their hydrogen appliances.
The Kiwa team has designed and managed the build of the hydrogen production plant, which involves Steam Methane Reforming (SMR) of locally produced syngas from a biogas source, and the conversion of Kiwa’s labs to use piped hydrogen.
Kiwa has also announced its first one-day hydrogen awareness course for gas installers. The course is set to take place on 13th October and is open to any Gas Safe registered operative, or employer, who would like to find out how Hydrogen will be implemented into the UK’s gas infrastructure and what effect it will have on your customers. There will be a tour of the production facility as part of the course.
