Mira Showers’ National Distribution Centre in Worcester has become carbon neutral thanks to the installation of 1560 solar panels on its roof, completely balancing the carbon emissions generated through its day-to-day activities.
The panels will create 560,000kW of energy annually, 50% of which will be consumed on site and fuel the facility’s operations as it links manufacturing sites around the UK. The remaining 50% will be exported to the National Grid.
Emma Foster, MD at Mira Showers, said: “Our team worked tirelessly to design this state-of-the-art facility, and making the centre totally carbon neutral is another example of Mira’s commitment to and investment in manufacturing in the UK. We’re so pleased to have been granted this status, and look forward to powering the centre with electricity generated by the panels for years to come.”
The announcement of the centre’s carbon neutrality follows the publication of the company’s December 2022 Environmental, Social, and Governance Report (ESG). The report highlighted Mira’s desire for transparency in its goals to further embed sustainability into its daily business operations and beyond. Through it’s achievement of 100% renewable electricity, the distribution centre is a key, early milestone in Mira Showers’ journey to achieving net zero by by 2035.
