A log gasification boiler from Eco Angus is helping Aldwick Court Farm & Vineyard provide eco-friendly and cost saving heating and hot water to the expansive site in Somerset. A purposebuilt barn was constructed to house the Eco Angus Orlan Super 130kW Log Gasification Boiler, 10,000 litre Akvarterm accumulator tank and the 6m high Nova stainless steel flue.
Blake Ecotec designed and installed the system, which is capable of supplying heating and hot water across the entire site. The boiler’s 130kW heat output and large loading capacity means it is capable of burning 100cm logs with a moisture content of 15-20%.

The solution works at 91% efficiency and can burn for up to 12 hours continuously. This high efficiency means that, during the summer months, a single weekly load will ensure enough hot water is provided to meet demand.
As a result of the installation, which displaced oil boilers, Aldwick Court’s is expecting a net fuel cost savings of of £258,636 across the 20 year scheme. It also benefits from the RHI and will receive payments of 8.8p per kWh of heat generated by the system, a total of approximately £403,900 in government payments.
