This September, a group from Intergas and Gas App UK are aiming to raise £10,000 for Breast Cancer Now, the UK’s largest breast cancer charity. On the 28th they will walk up Ben Nevis, all 1352m of it, along the Mountain Track and back again. The twist is that they will carry two Intergas HRE combi compact boilers in a shade of pink on their backs.

Founders of Gas App UK, Antony Provan and Matthew Stonehouse, will make the journey alongside Intergas’s MD Stephen Zouch and Sales Manager Kevin Ansell, who will act as Sherpas, carrying the pink boilers up and down the UK’s tallest mountain.

Speaking about the climb, Antony Provan says: “We hadn’t realised that almost 140 women are diagnosed with breast cancer every single day, and that’s shocking, but we know that not all of them will survive, which is even worse. If there’s anything we can do, no matter how small, to help Breast Cancer Now achieve its 2050 goal, we want to do it.”

Their difficulty was in deciding what might make their fellow installers, merchants and manufacturers part with their money to help them fulfil Mission Pink. And so the idea of hauling a boiler up and down a mountainside was born. It helps that Matt is a seasoned hill walker, so he’s worked out the pre-climb training programme to ensure success on the day.
