The publication of a new National Retrofit Strategy by the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) has been welcomed by the Bathroom Manufacturers Association (BMA). The document, which is now on the CLC website for consultation, includes water efficiency interventions as part of a plan to make the UK’s 29 million homes greener and better to live in.
The National Retrofit Strategy is part of the CLC’s ‘Roadmap to Recovery Plan’ and is designed to support the repair, maintenance, and improvement (RMI) sector by creating a joined-up approach to tackling climate change, while making UK homes more energy and water efficient.
“BMA truly welcomes the creation of this National Retrofit Strategy,” says chief executive Tom Reynolds. “If we’re serious about the UK’s environmental aspirations, then it’s crucial that the existing housing stock is upgraded in a coordinated way. It is great to see water efficiency alongside energy as a priority. The approach set out by the CLC provides the KBB sector with some big opportunities, but crucially it will improve the quality of millions of people’s homes while reducing their environmental impact.”
