A new Learning Management System (LMS) has been launched by Samsung Climate Solutions, designed to strengthen installer competency and support the next phase of heat pump deployment in the UK market. According to the Heat Pump Association, the UK installation workforce will need to grow to over 41,000 full-time installers by 2028, rising to more than 122,000 by 2035.
Responding to the training challenge, Samsung is looking to equip existing professionals with the technical competencies needed to design, commission and optimise heat pump systems across an increasingly diverse range of buildings and operating conditions. The company argues that training needs to move beyond product familiarisation and instead place greater emphasis on broader system design and performance optimisation.
The new LMS platform therefore introduces a modular training pathway structured across four levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Service Agent. Each level has been designed to progressively develop installers’ technical expertise, covering everything from system installation through to commissioning, servicing and diagnostics.
The LMS complements the manufacturer’s practical training which continues to be delivered at its dedicated centres in Chertsey and Manchester, providing installers across the UK with access to both digital and hands-on learning to aid their professional development.
Scott Young, national training manager, comments: “The industry’s biggest challenge is no longer convincing people that heat pumps work. Instead, the focus now is on ensuring that every system performs as intended in the environment it operates in. As the market matures, installers need a broader understanding of the variables that influence long-term system performance, from design and controls to environmental conditions. That’s where training becomes critical.
“Our new LMS is designed to support that journey, helping installers to build their skills progressively while giving them the tools they need to deliver long-term performance for customers.”
Alongside a more intuitive user experience and simplified registration, the LMS also allows Samsung Climate Solutions to identify recurring technical challenges and knowledge gaps across the market, helping the manufacturer to continually refine its training provision in line with installer needs.
The platform also forms part of the company’s wider installer offering. By linking progression through the training pathways to extended warranties and Climate Club rewards, installers can access a range of benefits as they progress through each training level, encouraging ongoing professional development.
Young continued: “Our ambition is not simply to train more installers, but to help existing professionals to build the competencies needed to deliver the levels of comfort and reliability that homeowners expect from their heat pump systems, particularly as the market continues to evolve and heat pump applications expand.”
