As the UK heat pump market enters a new phase of maturity, NIBE Energy Systems Limited has unveiled its next-generation S2060 air source heat pump, marking the beginning of a new generation of products designed to make heat pump installation simpler, performance even stronger and the transition to low-carbon heating more accessible than ever.

The S2060 is said to combine “outstanding” efficiency, “simplified” installation and “exceptional” performance. It is the first model in a new family of compact R290 heat pumps, with additional outputs due to be introduced later this year.

Paul Smith, MD at NIBE Energy Systems Limited, says:

“The S2060 represents far more than a new product. It reflects our long-term commitment to the UK market and our continued investment in technologies that make heat pumps easier to specify, easier to install and even better for homeowners.

“As the market continues to mature, we believe innovation must go beyond improving performance alone. It should simplify installation, enhance the customer experience, and give installers complete confidence in the products they’re fitting. That’s exactly what the S2060 has been designed to do.

“We’ve spent the last 20 years building strong relationships with installers, merchants, developers and homeowners across the UK. This launch represents the next chapter of that journey and underlines our ambition to continue leading from the front through innovation, quality and long-term investment.”

Developed around the needs of today’s installer, the S2060 introduces a host of practical enhancements alongside industry-leading performance. Featuring natural R290 refrigerant, the new heat pump delivers exceptional efficiency while offering a more compact footprint, lightweight design and quieter operation than previous generations.

With no protective zone requirements, compatibility across NIBE’s existing control platforms and seamless integration with myUplink, the S2060 has been engineered to simplify installation without compromising performance.

Among its key features are:

• Natural R290 refrigerant with a global warming potential (GWP) of just 0.02
• No R290 protective zone requirements, providing greater flexibility when siting the unit
• Market-leading SCOP of up to 5.33
• Flow temperatures of up to 75°C
• Heating and cooling capability down to -25°C
• Exceptionally quiet operation
• Compact single-fan design and lightweight construction
• Full compatibility with NIBE’s F and S Series controls and myUplink

Across two of the first UK installations, installers praised the S2060’s compact dimensions, ease of installation and overall performance, highlighting how thoughtful engineering can reduce installation complexity while delivering the high standards homeowners expect. The positive response reflects NIBE’s longstanding philosophy of designing products not only for efficiency, but for the people who install and live with them every day.

With additional models joining the S2060 range later this year, NIBE says the launch represents the first step in an exciting new chapter for both the business and the wider UK heat pump market.

Smith concludes:

“The transition away from fossil fuels is gathering pace, and installers need products they can trust to deliver day in, day out. The S2060 has been designed for that future, combining outstanding performance with practical innovation that makes a real difference on site.

“This is just the beginning. We’re continuing to invest heavily in products, people and partnerships because we’re committed to helping shape the future of heating in the UK.”
