Honeywell has unveiled the latest version of its evohome system featuring built in WiFi. First launched in 2012 and with a colour screen version made available last year, this third generation of the evohome now has the home WiFi connection built into the evohome controller, and as a result will no longer require an additional mobile access kit to communicate with the home broadband network.

Previously installers would also have had to install both the controller and a separate remote access gateway which had to be plugged into the home’s broadband router in order for the homeowner to remote control their heating via the app. Now with WiFi on board, the process is quicker and simpler, and there is no need to plug the new evohome into the router, freeing up an Ethernet port for another device.

The evohome system offers the ability to individually control up to 12 heating zones using wireless radiator controllers with digital flip-up screens. The colour touch screen controller features a user-friendly interface making programming easy for the homeowner.

“The evohome is a landmark system which is increasingly popular with installers seeking an easy-to-install wireless and internet-enabled system with zoning capabilities,” says Marketing Manager Andy Mansfield.

Installers who want to purchase the third generation evohome should look out for the ‘WiFi on board’ splash on the packaging.
