As local government authorities increase their efforts to retrofit energy efficiency measures to help residents cope with the energy crisis, Low Carbon Homes is highlighting its upcoming online series of retrofit events taking place this autumn covering Suffolk, the South East, Birmingham and Lancashire.

Each event has a local focus but many of the talks are relevant to all regions of the UK.

Retrofit advocate and the event organiser, Low Carbon Homes, says it is seeing a new dynamism in local government bodies partnering to support and stimulate the retrofit supply chain in their areas in order to provide warmer homes for residents.

Industry is also rising to the challenge, offering local communities decarbonisation solutions and supporting local action, with Adaptavate, Ambion Heating, E.ON, Mixergy, Panasonic and Stelrad supporting the South East Retrofit Summit and Birmingham Retrofit Summit.

Further details of each of the upcoming retrofit events can be found on their respective links below:

Suffolk Retrofit Conference – 13 October, hosted by the Suffolk Climate Change Partnership, comprising Suffolk Council with four district councils and the Environment Agency

South East Retrofit Summit – 18-20 October, hosted by LoCASE, a partnership of fourteen local councils and two universities.

Birmingham Retrofit Summit – 06-08 December, hosted by Birmingham City Council and supporting the Three Cities Retrofit Programme (Birmingham, Coventry, Wolverhampton)

Lancashire Retrofit Conference – 13 December, hosted by Cosy Homes in Lancashire (ChiL), a partnership of all fifteen local authorities in Lancashire

“The sheer number of local authorities forming climate change partnerships in the UK is really looking positive,” says Graham Lock from Low Carbon Homes. “And they aren’t just paying lip service to the concept of retrofitting their residents’ homes for energy efficiency, warmth and health – they are setting up and implementing impactful and enabling actions to make sure it happens – often in spite of an absence of positive leadership from the politicians in Westminster.”
