Three talented heating and plumbing engineers have beaten stiff competition to secure coveted final places in Screwfix’s search for the UK’s top tradesperson, which is now in its 16th year.
The final will see Darryl White from Ayr (left in image above), Shaun Bone from Milton Keynes (middle) and Dean Jones from Northop (right) compete against seven other top tradespeople, presenting their skills and story to judges from Screwfix.
Darryl White, 31, set up Darryl White Home Improvements following lockdown and has also founded a charity to support local community improvement projects. Darryl’s giving nature also extends to providing work experience for those interested in taking up a trade.
He prides himself on creating good customer relationships and delivering quality work on every job. He comments: “I’m proud to be putting Ayr on the map and representing every heating and plumbing engineer out there in my bid to take home the title.”
Shaun Bone, 38, has dedicated over 20 years to his trade. He owns Blue Flame (MK) Ltd, having worked there for 17 years before becoming the owner in 2021. Keen on delivering sustainable solutions, the company was recognised with a sustainability award for one of his projects and his future plans include expanding into renewables.
Having built his reputation on professionalism and sustainability, Shaun also works hard to give a friendly approach to customer service. He comments: “Looking at the names of the other finalists, it’s clear there’s some great competition. I look forward to sharing my story with the judging panel.”
Dean Jones, 44, has dedicated over two decades to mastering his craft. He runs his own business, ‘Jones the Gas’, with the help of his wife and daughter and employs another engineer as well as an apprentice. Always keen to learn new things, Dean constantly engages with other tradespeople on social media to share advice and tips.
He says: “I can’t believe I have secured a place in the final of Screwfix Top Tradesperson 2025. Since I started in the trade many years ago, I’ve worked hard to be recognised and being able to tell my story to the judges is something I’m really excited about.”
