The Second North Watford Scout Group in Hertfordshire recently installed two 10kW wall-mounted split heating systems donated by Fujitsu General Air Conditioning UK. The installation was prompted by the failure of an outdated gas-fired heater that was beyond economical repair in the group’s meeting hut, a facility constructed in the 1960s. With no radiators present, an air-based heating solution was required.
The group approached Dyffyd Goode, commercial supervisor at Fujitsu, due to his connections to the Scout movement in the same district. When a heat loss calculation revealed that the hut needed 20kW of heating, Fujitsu donated two 10kW wall mounted split systems from the training room of its Elstree HQ.
The systems were installed by Mick Mills, the owner of Truenorth, a local electrical and air conditioning contractor. Mick contributed his time and resources, charging only for specific materials needed for the installation.
