With the launch of its new ‘smart’ mixer shower, Aqualisa believes it can double the size of the UK digital shower market. The new ‘Q’ shower offers a number of innovative user benefits, including a proximity sensor that reduces flow to save water, activates the power-on mode and even greets the user with a friendly ‘hello’. Another first is the touch on/off switch, which is said to be based on new technology for a wet environment.
Q offers a personalised showering experience, allowing users to select the shower to suit their mood and lifestyle with pre-set and personalised shower ‘experiences’. A high resolution, full colour display screen provides visual feedback, protected by thermally and chemically resistant glass.
The movement of the shower’s lever, used to navigate menus and profiles, is controlled by magnets to give a feel of seamless motion. All the touch points are metal or glass for a premium look and feel.
The new shower also benefits from Aqualisa’s ‘Quartz’ smart technology, which checks the water temperature 100 times a second.
“One day consumers will expect all mixer showers to be like this,” says CEO David Hollander. “We believe there is a global trend to personalise every element of the home environment, and having the technology we wanted to take it a step further to bring real innovation to the bathroom market.”
