A new Lowest Price Guarantee has been launched by City Plumbing after research revealed installers could be losing almost £7,000 a year in potential chargeable time by shopping around for the best deal. The national plumbing and heating merchant has introduced daily checks across core plastic plumbing, spares and electrical ranges, helping trades get a fair and competitive price on the products they rely on every day, without wasting time comparing suppliers.
The research found that plumbers and heating installers spend an average of just over three hours a week sourcing the best deal for different products. Based on an average hourly rate of £45, that adds up to more than 20 working days a year and almost £7,000 in potential chargeable time spent checking prices rather than fitting, fixing and earning.
As part of its Lowest Price Guarantee, City Plumbing will review prices daily against leading UK retailers, giving both existing and new customers confidence that they are not overpaying. If a customer spots the same item cheaper with an eligible retailer, it can be flagged in branch or via customer services. It will then be reviewed and, where appropriate, matched or the difference refunded.
More than 100 products from City Plumbing’s Plumbright plastic plumbing range are backed by the price promise, as well as the company’s boiler spares range, which includes more than 250 parts stocked locally in branches and over 20,000 additional parts available next day.
“Our Lowest Price Guarantee is designed to help installers protect their profit from both sides,” explains Hemal Morjaria, chief commercial officer. “First, it helps customers feel confident they are getting a competitive price on the products they use day to day. Second, it cuts down the time spent going between suppliers, checking websites or comparing costs when they could be on the tools.”
The company says it plans to expand the scheme to more ranges over the coming months.
