The Association of Plumbing and Heating Contractors has taken a big step towards sustainability by installing solar panels at its Head Office in Birmingham to power its operations.
The organisation says the solar installation will significantly reduce its reliance on non-renewable sources of energy and demonstrates its commitment to the environment. By reducing the amount of fossil fuel-based electricity it uses, the company will help to minimise its carbon footprint, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and preserve natural resources.
The the panels were installed on a wet day in mid-May, but a couple of weeks later, on the warmest day of the year so far, 25th May, the solar panels generated nearly 200 kilowatts of electricity.
“We are thrilled to be able to power our operations with clean, renewable energy,” says John Thompson, APHC’s CEO. “The installation of solar panels is a significant step towards reducing our carbon footprint and making a positive impact on the environment. It is our hope that this move will inspire other businesses in our industry to take similar steps towards sustainability.”
The installation of the solar panels was completed by a member company of APHC, ASK Renewable Solutions Ltd.
