Claimed to be the first of its kind in the UK, BOXT has launched a fully online end-to-end service for purchasing and installing air source heat pumps, aimed at making it easier for homeowners to switch to renewable heating with support and financial help.
This initiative comes in light of recent research indicating that at least one in 10 households will need to install a heat pump within the next five years.
Visitors to the BOXT website are able to complete a short series of questions to receive an instant quotation for the best heat pump solution for their home as well as being able to book an installation date in as little as two weeks with a network of installers available across the country.
To further simplify the customer journey, BOXT will apply for the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme Grant on customers’ behalf, reducing the amount of administration time required for homeowners and lowering the cost of a heat pump to as little as £3,299.
BOXT partnered with heat pump manufacturer Vaillant to offer customers its products. Vaillant heat pumps are said to offer some of the best warranties currently available and enjoy a level of customer satisfaction, with a 4.5 rating on Trustpilot. With a Quiet Mark certification, they are also considered to be the quietest on the market and have a Coefficient of Performance (COP) of up to 5.2, making them exceptionally efficient, which also allows for a lower carbon output.
Vaillant heat pumps also offer an app-based heating control system, vSMART, which gives homeowners total control of their heating, as well as access to holiday functions and maintenance indications like low water pressure or any other faults. A further added benefit of the vSMART system is that it also allows BOXT to monitor the customer’s system remotely and assist them in optimising their heating and hot water performance.
Andy Pattison, head of renewables at BOXT, comments: “It is clear that if the UK is to meet its 2050 Net Zero target, significant advances need to be made, and quickly. Heat Pumps have the potential to play a big role in decarbonisation, however they need to be made more accessible to households.
“A large part of ensuring the successful adoption of heat pumps in UK homes is ensuring homeowners understand how the technology works and the many benefits it can bring. By utilising our proven online journey, which has helped to demystify the boiler purchasing journey for thousands of our customers since 2017, we are now replicating our transparent and simple customer journey to remove many of the barriers that people who are looking to make the switch to low-carbon heating are facing, and make it as easy as possible for them.
“The Boiler Upgrade Scheme is also helping to make the transition more accessible from a financial point of view and we hope that this, coupled with a greater understanding of the product, and a simplified buying journey, will see demand for heat pumps continue to grow as a leading renewable home heating solution.”
Heat Pumps are the latest addition to BOXT’s range of home energy solutions. In addition to boilers, BOXT also offers air conditioning installation and a range of renewable energy solutions, including solar panel and battery storage systems and EV chargers.
