The Works with Hive programme is being expanded through a partnership with energy technology company Enode, allowing hundreds of additional smart energy devices to connect with the Hive app.
The integration will initially cover electric vehicles and EV chargers, before extending to solar panels and home batteries. It will allow households to monitor and manage compatible products from different manufacturers through a single app rather than separate platforms.
The system could also enable users to schedule EV charging for cheaper periods and make use of electricity generated by solar panels and stored in a home battery.
The integration is powered by Enode’s Energy Orchestration Platform, which allows further brands and product categories to be added.
The partnership is also intended to support future connected energy services, including smart tariffs and home energy optimisation. Connecting devices could allow electricity demand to be shifted towards periods when prices or grid demand are lower.
