The latest MCS data shows that November was the best month of the year so far for certified renewable installations, with the total for 2024 already higher than 2023 with a month still to go.
In total, there were 26,708 systems installed, up 24% from November 2023. This brings the year-to-date total to 244,300 certified installations, a figure that surpasses last year’s record number of 244,277 installations. Heat pumps have reached 50,000 certified installations for the year, many supported through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS), which itself has seen record levels of uptake in 2024.
Commenting on the figures, Gav Murray, Hive heating director at Centrica New Business Net Zero, comments: “2024 has been a record-breaking year for heat pump technology adoption in the UK, indicating that more people than ever are wanting to switch to cleaner, more sustainable energy.
“Confirmation of additional funding for the scheme has continued to encourage homeowners. The challenge for the industry as we head into next year will be to ensure that the right support, whether that be grants or incentives, is in place to enable even more people to unlock the cost-saving and environmental benefits.”
