In a new initiative to encourage customer to return their old pumps, Wolseley and Grundfos have joined forces to launch a circular economy project that saves on resources and helps to minimise waste. The new Take-Back scheme means that returned pumps can be remanufactured to make new high performing pumps.

The scheme for domestic and light commercial pumps, is already live in 70 Wolseley branches across the UK. The remanufacturing process, which is carried out by Grundfos, consumes only 50% of the water required by the conventional recycling processes and emits 13.5% less greenhouse gases. Customers simply need to take their old pump to their local Wolseley branch, where it will be placed in storage before being taken away by Grundfos for remanufacturing in the UK.

Keith Dorling, MD at Wolseley Plumbing & Heating, says: “This project is a great illustration of working with a key supplier to help our customers reduce their environmental impact. We hope to develop this scheme further with Grundfos and are keen to work with other products manufacturers on similar schemes.”
