Van insurance company, Tempcover, has analysed 33 million MOT test results to reveal how likely the UK’s most popular vans are to pass their MOT, highlighting the most and least MOT-friendly models.

The Ford Transit Custom (84%) tops the list as one of the UK’s most popular vans with the highest MOT pass rate, whilst the Fiat Scudo is at the other end with a 59% MOT pass rate.

For many van drivers, waiting for an MOT result can be a stressful experience. The prospect of costly repairs, time off the road, especially if the van is essential for work, and general inconvenience makes a successful MOT a highly desirable outcome.

After analysing 33,000,722 test results, Tempcover identified the ten most and least MOT-friendly vans from the UK’s most popular models. Ford takes the top two spots, with the Transit Custom achieving an 83.98% pass rate and the Transit Courier at 80.10%. Rounding out the top five are the Fiat Ducato (77.61%), Toyota Proace (77.52%), and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (74.83%)

Claire Wills-Mckissick expert in temporary van insurance at Tempcover, says: “While some vans are statistically more likely to pass their MOT, we understand that it can still be a stressful time for many drivers.

“The MOT is an important step in ensuring your van is roadworthy and safe. If you find yourself in a situation where repairs are needed, temporary van insurance offers a fully comprehensive, flexible solution, allowing you to borrow a friend or family member’s van and get on the road. This helps to minimise disruption and give you greater peace of mind during a challenging time.”
